Vision Access to music education is an avenue toward the healthy development of children: it nurtures creativity, builds positive relationships and fuels hopes and dreams.
Mission MusicBox Children's Charity brings music education to vulnerable children in Canada, fostering creativity and a love of music; making arts education more accessible; and promoting the development of holistically healthy children.
As a community-based organization, we collaborate with communities to shape and implement our programs to suit their needs. We engage youth volunteers in our chapters to help foster their sense of responsibility to the community. Supported by a strong working board, MusicBox addresses the participants' needs and helps them grow through music education.
Music is a universal language, and experienced by all cultures as a bond across time, tradition, and space.
At MusicBox, we strive to teach and encourage the healthy growth of children who face obstacles that make this universal tool more difficult in their reach.
Be the music to their songs.
Music is an essential part of child development. Early Childhood Education (ECE) focuses on introducing young children (ages 4-6) to the basics of musical concepts, such as dynamics, rhythm and pitch.
We partner with Kiwassa Neighbourhood House and Hastings Park Childcare Centre to teach groups approximately 12 children once a week for a 30 minute session of fun and games (with a bit of education hidden in between).
Want to learn more? This program is led by Richy, our Director of ECE! Contact him by emailing musicbox.vancouver@gmail.com or sending him a message via CampusBase!
World Music Appreciation (WMA) focuses on a wider-age range, as it is an after-school lesson program. Ages vary from 6-12, allowing for more variety in your teaching experience! WMA's objectives include introducing children to instruments, articulation, and timbre with an overall goal of exploring and appreciation music from around the world.
MusicBox is partnered with RayCam Cooperative Centre, Kiwassa Neighbourhood House, Kiwassa Out-of-School Care, and Kiwassa Longhouse to provide fun lessons disguised as activities and crafts to groups of 6-10 children for 30 minutes.
Want to learn more? Kosmo and Ananya are the Directors of WMA! Reach out to them at musicbox.vancouver@gmail.com or via CampusBase.
Stack follows the BEM naming convention that focusses on logical code readability that is reflected in both the HTML and CSS. Interactive elements such as accordions and tabs follow the same markup patterns making rapid development easier for developers and beginners alike.
Add to this the thoughtfully presented documentation, featuring code highlighting, snippets, class customizer explanation and youve got yourself one powerful value package.
Private Lessons (PL) focuses on providing meaningful one-on-one instrument instruction to a variety of age groups. Full of freedom to make your own lesson plan and moderate your pace for your student, you can also choose your own lesson time. The most popular instruments tend to be guitar, piano, and voice, but we welcome all musicians to share their talents.
PL is available at RayCam Cooperative Centre, usually once a week for a 30 minute lesson, but details are worked out between the teacher and the student.
Eager to teach or have questions? The Director of PL is Tommy, who can be contacted at musicbox.vancouver@gmail.com or via CampusBase.
