The Advocacy Office was established in 1999 to provide information and support to students facing the bureaucratic challenges and disciplinary committees of UBC. The office strives to provide students with information about UBCÔÇÖs policies and procedures when they are in a formal or informal conflict with the University. Although the office does not provide legal advice, the office offers confidential and effective support to any undergraduate and graduate student at UBC in regards to the disputes outlined below.
ÔÇó Non Academic Misconduct ÔÇô Non Academic Misconduct may include vandalism of University property, harassing others individuals, and stealing on Campus Grounds. We can also assist and advocate for the rights of students accused or complaining of sexual assault and sexual misconduct.
ÔÇó Academic Misconduct ÔÇô Academic Misconduct may include engaging or attempting to engage in cheating, plagiarism, falsifying information, etc.
ÔÇó Academic Standing ÔÇô Academic Standing refers to issues such as failing a grade or promotion to next level of studies.
ÔÇó Housing Appeals ÔÇô Housing incidents that relate to the UBC Resident Contract, subletting, etc.
ÔÇó Parking Disputes ÔÇô Appealing a Traffic Notice (Parking ticket disputes).
ÔÇó Library Fine Appeals ÔÇô Appealing library fines and other charges.
ÔÇó Miscellaneous - providing referrals to other appropriate services, providing
advice and information on topics not listed above.

The AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) is located on the unceded, traditional, ancestral, and occupied territories of the h╔Ön╠ôq╠ô╔Ömin╠ô╔Öm╠ô (Halkomelem) speaking x╩Àm╔Ö╬©k╩À╔Öy╠ô╔Öm (Musqueam) nation.
We recognize the inherent connections between colonialism and all forms of violence. Recognizing the violence of ongoing colonization and engaging in decolonial actions is critical to our work as these lands were taken without consent from Indigenous peoples. Further, we recognize one of the ongoing effects of colonization being the disproportionate rate at which Indigenous peoples, particularly women and trans people, face sexualized and racialized violence. Sexualized violence was used, and continues to be used, as a weapon of colonization, and we want to actively and continuously be working to mitigate the harms of colonization in our work.

Since 2002 the SASC has been committed to the education, support, and empowerment of people of all genders who are survivors of sexualized violence as well as their friends and family. We serve UBC students, staff, faculty, and people with a connection to the UBC campus through various resources and services.

Mission
AMS members told us loud and clear that having a sustainable student building was important to them, so we made it our priority to build a LEED Platinum-certified building. This, rather ennobling certificate, is an international stamp of excellence in energy and resource-efficient buildings, putting The Nest high up in the ranks of green buildings in North America. Designing the building to have minimal impact on the environment became the solid foundation for us to run a green society and advocate for a greener campus community. From our food and beverage operations to all the initiatives, projects and funds initiated and administered by the AMS Sustainability office, we are always striving to make measurable reductions in our environmental footprint. That's why we implemented a waste recycling program, introduced the Sustainability Projects Fund (SPF), purchase eco-friendly products, use local suppliers where possible, eliminated plastic straws in many of our food outlets, and continue to look for ways to reduce the use of individual-use containers, even recyclable ones.

Mission
The AMS Food Bank is an emergency food relief service for UBC students in need. We offer various non-perishable foods, personal hygiene supplies, budgeting tips and information on additional resources in and around Vancouver. We receive supplies from a number of generous sponsors, but otherwise rely on donations from students and staff to stock the food bank. We go by the motto of: give when you can, take when you need.

About:

Established in 1970, the Hatch Art Gallery is UBCÔÇÖs only student-run exhibition space. Situated on the unceded, ancestral and traditional lands of the xwm╔Ö0ÔÇôkw╔ÖyÔÇÖ╔Öm (Musqueam), the Hatch aims to stimulate the exchange of art and ideas between artists, students and the public. Committed to promoting the practices of UBC students and alumni, the Hatch seeks to present innovative projects on critical subjects relevant to larger discourses in contemporary art, visual culture and theory.

In addition to biweekly exhibitions of student and local art, the Hatch also maintains and displays the AMS Art Collection, an impressive assortment of Canadian art that provides a cross section of artistic growth and development in Canada since 1945. The HatchÔÇÖs exhibition schedule is also supplemented by a variety of special events and projects throughout the year, including collaborations, workshops, performances, and the annual Visual Art StudentsÔÇÖ Association exhibition.

The Hatch Art Gallery is supported by the UBC Alma Mater Society.
