About Us

Our mission is to foster a creative writing and slam performance community at UBC where poetry can be celebrated regularly outside of class. We want to act as a bridge within the slam poetry scene in Canada at large by creating opportunities for new and intermediate poets at UBC to share their work with a broader audience and hosting prominent local and national figures within the slam poetry movement to help teach and inspire our campus community to connect UBC Slam with the larger poetry community. We hope to ensure that campus culture and performance poetry spaces are inclusive and help honour the diverse experiences we have on campus.
