About Us
Climate Justice UBC, formerly named UBCc350, has been an independent student-led group on the UBC Vancouver campus for over a decade since its launch in 2012. Starting as a climate science and policy group, we have grown into a non-hierarchical collective that organizes to tackle the root causes of climate change: capitalism, colonialism and white supremacy. We are committed to centring cross-movement solidarity, community care, critical hope and agency, and collective action. CJUBC’s current work builds upon a big campaign win in 2019 that successfully influenced UBC’s decision to divest from fossil fuels. Through our various campaigns and initiatives, we advocate for bold climate policy, institutional climate leadership and accountability, social justice, Indigenous sovereignty, and more. We see the climate movement as inseparable from other movements for racial, social, economic, and disability justice. As such, CJUBC is proud to be a member of the Divest Canada Coalition, Fossil Free Research movement, BC Poverty Reduction Coalition, as well as a UBC-based student coalition of values-aligned groups working towards more just futures for all!
