In September 2018, UBC and BCIT launched a new Bachelor of Science specialization, accepting 14 students into the Combined Honours program to pursue their passions in Biochemistry and Forensic Sciences.

“It is wonderful to see our two institutions working together to offer students an exceptional educational experience in a fascinating field”

President Santa Ono's take on this specialization

"Personally, I was interested in this program because I knew I wanted to pursue a science degree but I also wanted to apply that science degree. The thought of going into "normal" biochemistry or chemistry seemed boring to me, and I think that's why Forensic Science sparked my interest; I love that we get to learn the science, but then also learn how we can actually use it in real life."

"I can honestly say that the best part about this program so far has been the people. From group mental breakdowns to group celebrations, we have been through it all; and I wouldn't have it any other way. These beautiful human beans have become my family and my home, and I can't imagine life without them."

"This past year, what I have enjoyed the most is how everyone in the program tries to help each other. As this is an honours program, there are many courses to take and it can get physically and mentally draining. However, the group tries their best to help each other in our courses. :)"

We've used their templates before an"Really think through whether you can handle the commuting between the two institutions (Vancouver to Burnaby, etc.) and the course load. You must take at least 30 credits each winter term so that is around 5-6 courses each term. This can be really stressful, so I hope students believe they can handle this before joining the program."d have always been hugely satisfied - Stack is no exception
