President
Hi, I'm Aman, the president of the MPC! I'm currently a 4th year psychology student and I've been producing since 2019 after when a friend showed me how to use LMMS; I switched to Ableton a couple years ago and am finally starting to hit my stride as a producer, in part thanks to this club! I started the MPC as a way to meet some other producers on campus (and pad me resume) but its grown to so much more than that! I'm amazed at the amount of talent the club has and really excited to see where we'll go in the future.
Treasurer
Yooo, I’m Amine, your humble club treasurer. I am currently in my 5th year of biomedical engineering, on course to graduate next may. I am very passionate about everything related to music, from instruments, to production, to obscure musical genres. My favourite website is everynoise.com, where I like to spend my free time hunting for weird genres and good tunes. I played around with garageband ever since I was a kid, slowly building up a basic knowledge of music production. But as any garageband user, throughout the years I started reaching the limits of what that DAW had to give, and on my 19th birthday, I bought a Logic Pro licence, determined to improve my producing skills. It is then that I joined this club, to produce, learn, and make new friendships. For that, and with the help of the rest of the executives, I became determined to contribute in making MPC the biggest music club at UBC, creating a supportive community for all music enthusiasts.
Social Media Executive
Hello, I'm Karsten, a second-year computer engineering student at UBC and the social media executive at MPC. I've been into music for over a decade, starting with guitar at age 10. Over the years, I added bass, singing, and music production using Studio One 5. last year, I joined the Music Production Club to connect with like-minded musical individuals. This term, I'm excited to be an executive and contribute to the club's growth, building on the great experiences I had last year!
Educator
My name is Alerik and I'm a 5th year in Urban Forestry. I started producing when I wa 16, but before that I was a classically trained pianist in the Royal Conservatory of Music from ages 4-14. I became an exec in the educator role because i thought it would be a great experience to share my knowedge and work on communication and teaching skills. I primarily use Ableton, although I also include FL Studio in my workflow and i have experience using Reaper as well.
VP Internal
Hey, I'm Akshat, a fourth year Computer Science and Math major and the VP Internal at at MPC. Music has been a part of my life for a long time. I started with learning how to play the guitar and evolved into learning Indian Classical singing at age 13. As my music taste developed, I got more involved with music production and that motivated me to be a part of the MPC. My favourite genres of music are Deep house, Tech house, Hip-hop and Fusion Jazz. My knowledge in music production is pretty limited for now, but I am always open to collaborations or to talk about anything music!
