Meet the Team

Seerit is a fourth year Integrated Science student, currently on co-op at the BC Children’s Division of Gastroenterology. The is her first year on the WiS exec team, serving as this year’s Treasurer. She is passionate about providing equity to minority groups in STEM and is excited to grow our community on campus. Beyond managing finances, she can be found exploring new hikes in BC, trying out new restaurants, and baking.

Divya is a second-year student majoring in Biology. This is her second year as a WIS executive member and she is thrilled to be a part of this team again, supporting the advancement of women in science. She is passionate about equality for women in the field of science and is looking forward to all the amazing events WIS is planning for this upcoming year. Divya appreciates taking advantage of new possibilities and learning new things. She likes to spend time with her family, read books, watch sports, and go hiking in her free time.

Alex is a fourth-year student majoring in Biology. She is passionate about women's empowerment in STEM and is working to support individuals who face gender discrimination in the field. This is her second year as an executive member of WIS, and she is looking forward to welcoming and connecting with other students at the events. In her free time, she loves to cook, watch movies, explore new restaurants, and spend time with family and friends.

Sahar is a fourth-year student majoring in Biology, who believes in women's empowerment and gender equality in the STEM field. She is excited to be a part of the Women in Science club as an executive since it can provide a safe space for women to help each other achieve their full potential, as well as, create a supportive network of women. She would like to continue to be able to have a positive impact on the UBC science community by getting involved with events in her own field that support and help women to connect. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, watching sunsets, volunteering, and watching lots of K-Dramas.

Mehara is currently in her final year of her Biology degree. This is her second year as an executive member of the UBC Women in Science. She is looking forward to meeting all our new and returning club members and providing a community for women in STEM to achieve their full potential. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading books, and playing her guitar.

Niki is a fourth-year student studying Honours Cellular, Anatomical, and Physiological Sciences. This is her first year in WiS and is she thrilled to be VP mentorship this upcoming year! She is passionate about supporting students’ professional and academic pursuits and outside of WiS, can be seen overseeing the mentorship program for the Science Undergraduate Society as AVP academic and a career development coordinator for the Student Alumni Council. She is also an NSERC research student with interests in neuroendocrinology and women’s health. Outside of academics, Niki enjoys mountain biking and playing the drums, although doing both at once may result in injury.
