Engineers Without Borders UBC is a vast interdisciplinary team (including non-engineers) that works on a myriad of initiatives outside the typical hyper-technical work that engineering students normally pursue. We focus on generating long-lasting meaningful impact in the projects that we take on and work rigorously to promote the personal development of our members. We work on fostering community and building strong leaders.

EWB UBC has branches working on education with VancouverÔÇÖs youth, advocacy with local MPs, sustainability initiatives and wellness. We are passionate about discussing problems that we encounter as a community and take it one step further by formulating solutions and putting them into action.

We work on both local and global projects, ranging from fundraising to technology implementation in Sub-Saharan Africa. There is a tremendous amount of room to spearhead your initiatives and contribute to others. YouÔÇÖll have an opportunity to have some incredible conversations with insightful individuals and be a part of an engaged and inclusive community.

Mission
LetÔÇÖs Talk Science is a national, charitable, volunteer-driven organization committed to
enhancing awareness, understanding, and appreciation of STEM (science, technology,
engineering and mathematics) targeting youth from Kindergarten to Grade 12. LetÔÇÖs Talk
Science focuses on making science engaging and accessible, by creating and delivering free
hands-on STEM activities to schools and communities across Canada, with outreach sites at
over 50 Canadian universities and colleges.

LetÔÇÖs Talk Science Outreach at the University of British Columbia is one of the largest outreach
sites in the country. We reach over 20,000 youth each year through ten unique outreach
programs and the help of hundreds of dedicated volunteers! Outreach programs vary, from
hosting super cool events to in-class hands-on activities, all targeting different aspects of
science literacy!

UBC Geering Up Engineering Outreach is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting science, engineering and technology to the children and youth of British Columbia through fun, innovative and hands-on experiments and projects. Geering Up strives to reach all children and youth, regardless of gender, ethnicity, culture or socio-economic status, with special outreach for those groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences. Geering Up provides valuable work experience to its employees, and enriches the University and community.

UBC's International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) team is a synthetic biology research team, run entirely by students and supervised by postgrads and professors. We consist of passionate and innovative students that compete in a world-renowned competition, where teams from 400 universities worldwide spend a year working on a groundbreaking synthetic biology project, which they then showcase in Boston. 

iGEM projects are not only biology-based, but are multi-faceted through science, coding, business, design, engineering, and much more. If you are interested in putting the skills you are learning in university to practice, meeting motivated students from UBC and across the globe, and working at the cutting edge of biotechnology, then iGEM is definitely for you.
